Palate Café and Bar: Private Parties

Palate Café and The Jill Celeste Gallery: The Perfect Historic Venue For Your Next Special Event

Palate Wine Bar and Jill Celeste Gallery provide the perfect venue for everything from intimate dinner parties of 25 friends to birthday/graduation celebrations to full scale weddings and receptions of 150 guests. Located in the heart of Decatur’s Oakhurst Village, it is a unique site in an historic building: the original Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital designed by renowned Atlanta architects Neel Reid and Hal Hentz in 1919. Until the 1930s, few drugs were available to treat childhood diseases so the original hospital design reflects the emphasis then given to providing young patients with plenty of sunshine and fresh air. The Georgian Revival style building was designed with a southern exposure, allowing for plenty of sunshine. There are generous windows, including clerestory windows above the main roof-line to provide additional interior light. For receptions, our venue features in house catering for three cozy interior rooms, wide art-filled hallways, and two outdoor patios heated by fireplaces in winter.

"I just wanted to let you know that our group had a *wonderful* time at your restaurant last Saturday. As always, the food and drink were fabulous, but I really appreciate how great the staff were. It's not every day that an establishment such as yours is simultaneously descended upon by what turned out to be 26 adults and 13 babies! But your staff handled it beautifully and were friendly and efficient the whole time, even as the babies were crawling under foot. And even better, they kept a sense of humor!

It was a rare and wonderful treat for us parents to get to go out for a grownup night out without having to leave our babies with a sitter. I've gotten so much great feedback from the group members saying what a lovely evening it was. Thanks again for opening early for us...that made all the difference."

"Jill and Palate Cafe were instrumental in making our wedding wonderful, special and fun! We have always enjoyed the ambiance, food and great wine selection at Palate and Jill and her staff have always made us feel at home whenever we visited, so it was easy to decide to get married in the courtyard behind Palate and let Jill take care of our reception. We had wonderful food, our guests had their choice of wine, and Jill let us dress up the place for a Christmas wedding (she even made sure she had a fresh tree there for us!). We had musician friends come in and play, and our guests and family had a celebration to remember. Later, when my daughter wanted to have a fancy "tea" one Sunday afternoon for eight friends, I knew just who to call. Jill supplied the tea and the appetizers and made it an afternoon to remember - but that's just Jill - and Palate. We wouldn't hesitate to use Palate again for any important event in our lives - big or small. Palate is the BEST!"

"Jill -Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. We had a great time and a lot of my friends understand better now why I love living intown. There's just a different feel to things. Please tell Chuck and Alex thank you for helping me celebrate with my friends."

"My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Palate. We were very happy with how it went-- the staff was professional, the food was great, and we got a lot of positive feedback from guests. People enjoyed being able to select a wine, mingle inside, and then find a spot to settle down in, either in the building where they could admire the artwork, or outside on the patio. We would definitely recommend it for someone who wants a casual yet classy & unique event, and anyone who has family & friends who enjoy good wine!"

"Jill-On behalf of all the volunteers of Dekalb Rape Crisis Center, I would like to thank you for your time, energy, and generous contribution that you gave to our volunteer appreciation event. You provided a peaceful and rejuvenating afternoon for the backbone of our organization and words alone cannot express the sincere gratitude I have for each one of your staff. Thank you for your continued dedication supporting our cause and our volunteers."
